The Tree House

For years, I've wanted to make a tree house for my dolls.
I have had log branches from when our cottonwood trees

were cut down (diseased), but found that they were still attracting bugs.

I also lack the tools and the work space to do power cutting.

So, I recently discovered another alternative.

I found a tree trunk meant to go in an aquarium!

First, I built a base to hold up the tree house.

I went to the local craft store, and worked with their pre-cut

wood pieces. The floor has 5 boards that are 24 inches long and 

3 inches wide glued together to make a total space of 24 x 15inches.

The back wall is 24 inches long by 12 inches high.

The side walls are boards that are 12 inches long and 4 inches wide.

Each side has 3 boards glued together and are stood up vertically.

The front pieces are the same as the side pieces.

I used paper from the scrapbook section to wallpaper the inside 

and outside of the tree house. After experimenting with blue on the inside,

I ended up changing it to a brown board paper matching on the inside and outside.

At the moment, wood clothes pins are holding up postcards,

which can be changed periodically.

Wood blocks are serving as furniture.

 I ended up painting the tree trunk brown.

It was too green, which is great for an aquarium,

but not so great for my purpose.

I don't have any plans to glue the house to the trunk

as they are easier to store and work with separately.

I will probably end up at pet store looking for a ladder,

plants, a tire swing, and anything that can be added

and still have able to be flat on its own floor foundation.

Ella is quite happy to have her own play area!
